Oak Marr “Pool Rules”
Pre-rental warm up
The rule:
Since our team rents out pool time from 9pm-10pm and we do not pay an entry fee
at the door, we only are only entitled to use 3
lanes in the pool during our rental time. If people want to use the
facility during other times which are public swim times, they need to
pay the separate admission fee since the hockey fee we collect only covers the
cost of our rental time. In short, paying the club for hockey doesn't
mean you have an all day, open pass to the facility.
The courtesy:
Our members will be allowed to enter the water about 15 minutes prior to the
rental time for warm up. We need to confine ourselves to one lane only
and not disrupt the swimming of other park patrons. No pucks or hockey
equipment is to be used in the pool during this warm-up period; just mask, fins,
snorkel and kickboard for swimming.
Keep in mind that park patrons could include other
hockey players who have paid at the door or have memberships. Therefore
please be courteous to their use also. As a compromise, I would suggest
that all of us hockey players (park patrons or not) share one lane. As a
hockey playing park patron, if you fear that crowding may be an issue, it might
would really help everyone if your wrap up your workout 15 minutes prior to
game time. However in the end, paying patrons get priority over our
courtesy warm up time so everyone needs to be mindful of disrupting things.
The rule:
We don't pay for it and we are not entitled to it. In addition, having
our play spill into a public lane is a huge problem. We use cones
underwater to help everyone know where the boundary is. If play goes out
of bounds, please try to return to our side BEFORE surfacing. Surfacing
in front of, or even worse under, a swimmer is very bad news. We should
keep our cones close enough inside the area to ensure this isn't a
problem.
The courtesy:
If the pool is not busy, we can ask the guard to let us use the 4th lane.
We need to ask and they can say no. If we do get the lane, move the lane
line over (not out) so that it can be quickly and easily replaced if the pool
gets busy again. If we are using the 4th lane, it becomes even more
important not to surface out of bounds. There is a tile line, which
serves as a good reference so that we can put our cones safely away from the
boundary with the 5th lane. Basically, at no time should we ever have
anyone in the 5th lane. Not even jumping into the water and swimming
underneath into the play area. We should not use the 5th lane as a
subbing area; at least not until after 9:30 and the pool is closed. There
is enough space between where the cones go and the lane marker for a sub area
until then.
For league games, because of the increased intensity,
we need to confine the game to 3 lanes. If the 4th lane is available, it
can be used as a buffer area, warm up lane for non-league players and/or a
spectator area.
Here are some things we should do to help foster good
relationships with the pool:
1) Continue to help pull lane lines out and replace
them
2) Keep the pool deck area clear before our rental
time. In the 15-20 minutes before practice it's easy to congregate near
our pool area or set up our gear and drop it off by the poolside. However
since there are swim teams in the water and exiting this can get in their
way. Let's try to keep ourselves, and our gear, by the seats and out of
the way.
3) Don’t drop the puck, place it on the ground as it
can break tiles
4) Exit the pool and facility on time and in an
orderly manner.
