DC Underwater Hockey Rules & Regulations

Regular Season

1)      Each team will have not more than 4 players in the water at a time

2)      Each half will be 9 minutes with a 2-minute half time.

3)      End subbing will be used for any team who has more than 4 players.

4)      If a player has not paid his league dues or attended the referring class, s/he will not be eligible for league play until these dues are paid or he has attended the referring classes.

5)      Minor penalty - 1 minute / Major penalty 2 minutes

6)      If at any point during the game a team leads 7 – 0, then the game is over.

7)      Each team who is not playing must provide (1) water ref, (1) deck ref, and (1) head ref (one assigned to the water and one assigned to the deck) for the game; there should be exactly (3) water refs and (3) deck refs. If a team fails to provide these refs or does not arrange to have refs there, they will be penalized 2 minutes per missing ref for their next game

For example, if Damien's team is not playing and does not provide either ref the following week, for their next game the will be penalized and play down a player for the first 2 minutes of each half.

8)      The puck is out of bounds when it is completely crosses the caulk line on the bulkhead side and when it completely crosses the tile on the non-bulkhead side.

9)      The prizes for the winning team are:

a.      If you are a DC Player, you will receive the month after the season ends of free hockey at Oak Marr. Starting with the Championship game.

b.      If you are a GMU player, your club dues will be paid for you. If your club dues have been already paid from a previous season, then you will receive a free month of hockey.

Playoff Rules

1)       The home team (higher seed) will wear black and be on the near side.

2)       Headgear (excluding ear pieces) must match sticks.

3)       Sticks must be painted. The refs will be checking all sticks before the games and if your stick is worn down, and the color is not acceptable you will not be
  allowed to play with it.

4)       Teams not playing still need to provide the refs. Teams should have their more experienced refs in the water.

5)       Halves will be 9 minutes with a 2 minutes half time. 

6)       The clock will stop when play does for the last minute of each half.

7)       We will use a green puck for the games.
